With funds from the Stiftung zur Förderung begabter Studierender und des wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchses (Stipendienstiftung Rheinland-Pfalz) (Foundation for the Promotion of Gifted Students and Young Scientists (Rhineland-Palatinate Scholarship Foundation)), we award scholarships and one-time emergency aid payments to students and doctoral candidates at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz who have family responsibilities. The two funding options are intended to help relieve the financial burden on students and doctoral candidates who are caring for close relatives and/or raising children. The prerequisite for both types of financial aid is that you are in financial distress. All important information about the scholarship and emergency aid fund can also be found in our information flyer.

Applicants must meet the following criteria for both funding opportunities (scholarship and emergency fund):

  • Be enrolled at JGU or registered as a doctoral candidate or be at JGU as part of an international study or graduate exchange program
  • Have family responsibilities (caring for relatives or raising children)
  • Be in a financial hardship situation

In both funding lines, special consideration is given to students/doctoral candidates,

  • who are single parents,

  • who care for more than one person,
  • with child(ren) and care responsibilities,
