During the phase of continuous career development, early-career researchers often seek the right time to make decisions about family or children. Furthermore, the topic of starting a family in academic organizations and among many researchers is often not perceived as conducive to an academic career, as family and profession are considered opposing orientations in the identity construction of academics. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Committed parents are seen as less reliable academic workforce. The discourses of incompatibility are subject to fixed thought patterns, culminating in the main message: \u201cWhen a child arrives, problems arise…\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This disrupts the self-concept and self-confidence of early-career researchers, making them doubt their ability to achieve the next qualification level while also desiring to have children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This two-day workshop, which operates under the motto \u201cIt starts with the in-laws and ends with the dean\u201d, aims to support researchers at JGU in finding a coherent decision-making basis for their life situation of career and family planning. How can private (family) life be reconciled with a professional career in academia? <\/p>\n\n\n\n
