To meet the demand for qualified scientists in the future, due to demographic change and globalization, it is inevitable that science will become more female, more international, more individual, and career paths will become less straight.

The increasing heterogeneity of the group of people involved in science is an ideal starting point for more originality, creativity, and innovation potential – but it also requires targeted diversity management. This not only represents added value for those employed and studying at our university, for the university as an employer, teaching and research institution, but ultimately also has societal impact.

The conference aims to examine the currently widespread concept of a scientific career, attempt an outlook on a scientific system characterized by greater diversity of career opportunities, and highlight areas for action – students of JGU should be informed, animated, and supported in their decision to pursue a scientific career.
